As winter approaches, when turn on the air source heat pump water heater, but there is no hot water from heat pump, what could be the problem? There could be several reasons for this issue:
1. Insufficient water in the tank
If there is no water in the tank, the water level will be too low, triggering a self-protection alarm in the heat pump water heater and causing it to stop operating.
2.Refrigerant leakage
If the compressor and fan are working normally but no hot water is produced, it can be checked from the high-pressure gauge of the unit. If there is a shortage or leakage of refrigerant, it can lead to a lack of hot water. Adding refrigerant in the appropriate amount can solve the issue.
3.Check the display screen of the water heater
Most air source heat pump water heaters on the market are controlled by integrated circuit boards, and the main unit’s display screen will provide relevant prompts. If there is a fault code displayed, referring to the instruction manual can help identify the source of the problem. For example, if the display screen shows error code 13, it indicates an issue with the water tank temperature sensor, loose connection, aging probe, or even a sensor wire chewed by small animals. Checking the display screen for any alarm codes can easily resolve the problem.
4.Water pump issues
The reason for no hot water from an air source heat pump water heater can also be due to a non-functioning pump, leading to high-temperature warnings from the main unit and a lack of hot water.
5.Non-functioning compressor
If the compressor of the air source heat pump water heater is not working, it can also result in no hot water. Touching the pipes coming out of the compressor can help determine if they are hot or cold. If they are cold, it indicates a lack of heat exchange, and the heat exchanger should be checked. Issues such as a burnt-out compressor, faulty AC contactor, or a malfunctioning mainboard can all cause the compressor to stop working, resulting in no hot water.
